It's easy to complain about the state of affairs we find ourselves in after the 2016 elections. Very easy. So much to complain about. Even without interference from the Russians (cuz who knows who it might be next time), we have not been diligent about participating in our elections processes, let alone being engaged in governing. At any level. The Republican Party has been organized and steadily eroding away at the foundations of our democracy for years. Where were we? Oh, that would never happen; that could never happen in America..... Well, it never should have happened in America. Again, the Republicans implemented the strategy (as only they would), though the rest of us are not off the hook.

So, while it's easy to sit back and write a blog every now and then, I'm convinced it's time to pony up. Or in the words of the unsinkable Molly Brown, "belly up to the bar, boys." All of us, but especially you girls!

If we're serious about protecting our democracy, it must be wrested from the hands of the imposters currently serving in Congress. You and I must vote for every Progressive or Democrat who runs for office at the city, county, state, and federal levels. We must also likely run for office ourselves. It's not something I aspire to personally, but I consider it service to my country - not unlike jury duty. I've no interest - or ability - to do it long term. In and out. No reason more of us should not be involved with making our communities, states, and country run better and our lives easier. After all, the Republicans aren't interested in making anything better for you and me, unless we're a corporation.

The upshot? Get out there. Help your local Democratic Party find, recruit, and elect progressives. Or run yourself. There are a lot of groups out there willing to help. Either way, have your voice heard. Take action! And vote!
